York Professional Pet Sitting

Hello, I am Morag, owner and operator of York Professional Pet Sitting Inc. since May 2000. I am hoping this page gives you an opportunity to get to know a bit more about our team members who are entering your home and caring for your beloved pets, when you can’t be there.

All team members are bonded and insured under the company policy and all have been careful chosen for their love of animals, reliability, responsibility and compassion.

Many people think that pet care is easy. You just go in and walk the dog, or feed the cat right? NO – very wrong. There is an enormous responsibility in caring for someone else’s pet. Many pets get anxious when their “pet parents” are away. Being in their own familiar environment helps tremendously, however it is the caring, compassionate and nurturing nature of our team that makes helps make you pet less stressed and less anxious. We know they are missing you and that we will never take your place but we put ourselves as role of “grandparents” (although we are all too young for that :-)) by giving them lots of undivided attention, exercise, TLC and most importantly keeping their routine as close to normal as possible. Apart from that it is a 365 day a year job in all and any kind of weather and no matter how you are feeling. The team is dedicated to their job and the well being of the pets they are caring for.

Now a bit about me. I was born and raised in England, and moved to Canada with my parents in 1972. I am blessed with 2 amazing children who are now away at University, though they do keep returning home :-) York Professional Pet Sitting is my passion and I am enjoying watching it grow and meeting wonderful new people and pets on a regular basis. I love hearing that Pet Owners no longer worry about their “fur kids” when they are away, because we are taking care of them.

I also enjoy swimming, reading, writing dining out (especially patio’s in the summer), I am an active member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the Model A Owners Club of Canada. I love touring in the old cars during the summer months. Travel is also a passion of mine, whether local or further afield. I have not had much opportunity to do that since I started York Professional Pet Sitting Inc, as growing and maintaining a new business is more than a full time job. However, I am hoping to travel more in the future with such great team members to entrust the business too while I am gone.

Monica has been part of the York Professional Pet Sitting Inc. Team since March of 2004 has been a dedicated and exemplary team member from day one. Monica has her own route of regular Monday – Friday clients, she also does vacation care visits and works at least every 4th weekend. Monica was born in Newmarket and has lived here ever since. Monica lives with her rescue dog Layla, her 3 cats Zoe, Emily and Bob as well as her budgie Simon. Over the years Monica has had two other dogs, Lucy and Candy, turtles, lizards (anoles) more budgies and two other cats. Monica has also fostered two litters of kittens preparing them for their new homes..

To say Monica is an animal lover is an understatement, I am not even sure that there is a word in the dictionary to describe Monica’s passion and care for the well being of animals.

In these photo’s you will see Monica with her best friend Layla, who rescued last year after sadly losing her previous rescue dog Tammy to a sudden and tragic illness. Layla has come a long way under Monica’s love and care and goes with her everywhere. Monica loves the outdoors and especially spending time at her cottage, where you can see by the photo’s she loves to relax with Layla. Monica also loves, camping, hiking, scuba diving and travelling. She is a volunteer with St. Johns Ambulance Therapy Dogs taking dogs to Retirement residence for the residents to enjoy.

Our Mother - daughter team extrodinaire. Beth joined the York Professional Pet Sitting Inc. team in April 2007 as summer help when she was home from University. In September of 2007 when she was going back to school her Mum Janice, took her place and both have been wonderful team members ever since.

Janice has her own regular Monday-Friday route of clients and helps out with occasional weekends and vacation care. Janice was born and raised in Uxbridge and working in Toronto till she married her husband Mike and they moved up to Newmarket in 1980. She has a son Patrick and of course her daughter Beth. Janice’s passion is golf, but she also enjoys riding and downhill skiing. She, like me is a wine lover (though neither of us are connoisseurs) and loves to read when she can stay awake long enough.

Of course Janice is also a huge animal lover and spoils her fur clients daily, and on top of that has also been driving a school bus for 21 years. As you can see neither Janice or I listened to W.C Fields when he said ““Never work with children or animals.” As we both do both and love it.

Beth, was born and raised in Newmarket and is in her forth year at Laurentian University in Sudbury where she is taking zoology. As you can see from the photo’s she also loves to ride horses and loves all animals as well as hiking, camping and relaxing with a good book.. I can also personal attest to the fact that she makes great cookies :-)

We were lucky enough to have Russell join our team in October of 2008. The dog in the photo with him is Beans who he resuced from the Humane Society.

Russell,, does overnights, weekend and evening clients for us.

Russell was born and raised in Adelaide, Austraila and has had all kinds of pets over the years including dogs, birds, lizards, turtles, snakes and rabbits. He loves music, travel, sports and camping.

Deb was born in Montreal and has been married to Jeff 21 years. Jeff is from Worcester Ma. They have a 19yr old son David who is currently studying at Adrian College in Michigan.

They have lived in Newmarket since 1994 and have been very active in the community working for various sports organizations. The whole family loves sports and Deb plays baseball and golf.

Deb has loved nature , wildlife and animals since she was a young girl. She is passionate about protecting the habitats of all animals and has been a member of the world wildlife fund and humane society for many years. Deb has had many pets in my life including hamsters, rabbits, fish, birds, dogs and cats and they are currently live with 2 cats named Kingpin and Fox which my son named when he was 4 years old.

Deb has enjoyed travelling to many countries to experience native birds and animals and hopes to travel to Africa on safari one day.

She is a wonderful addition to our team and when she is caring for the pets her passion shines through and they know it.

Deb has a regular route of Monday-Firday clients and helps with vacation care and any anything else that needs to be done.
